Sharing My Analysis with a Wider Audience
Trend Spotting on the Geopolitics of Energy & International Trade
For almost two decades, my insights on geopolitics, energy, commodities, and trade flows have reached only a select group of clients.
Since 2008, I've written over a thousand of articles, research notes, reports, memos, and outlooks that have landed in the inboxes of renowned hedge funds, banks, energy companies, governments, academic institutions, and many more. Along the way, I've delivered countless speaking engagements, one-on-one briefings, and media appearances.
Sharing My Analysis with a Wider Audience
Now, with these Substack posts, I’m excited to share my expertise with a wider audience. If I know something, I say something—I don’t keep the knowledge to myself!
I'm exploring ways to contribute more actively to the public debate and policymaking around the geopolitics of energy, a topic I’m deeply passionate about and have considerable expertise in.
A Bit About Me
I am a commodity market research analyst, political risk adviser, reporter, entrepreneur, speaker, author, and podcaster.
I began my entrepreneurial journey in 2018 after a decade at advisory and intelligence firms like Energy Intelligence, Eurasia Group, and The Rapidan Energy Group.
I co-founded Gas Vista, an energy trade analytics company, and led Leviaton, our in-house Ai data solution platform for predicting flows in liquefied natural gas (LNG) flows, shipping, and trade routes—which was acquired by SynMax in 2023.
I worked at SynMax until January 2025 and am now reinventing myself—a journey many founders experience post-acquisition. I feel incredibly fortunate to be here.
In addition, I serve as a non-resident visiting senior fellow at the New York University SPS Center for Global Affairs and as a non-resident CSIS Senior Associate in the Energy Security and Climate Change Program.
I'm also the author and host of the Energy Vista podcast.
Making Experts Great Again: Trend Spotting
In these posts and videos, you can expect forward-looking analysis on emerging trends in geopolitics, energy, and trade. I’ve never been one to shy away from bold calls—while I haven’t always been right, I’m proud to have a track-record of spotting trends long before they became mainstream.
Anticipating trends isn’t about having a crystal ball; it’s about connecting dots, engaging with stakeholders, digesting loads of information, and applying honed analytical skills. This is an art mastered over years —and I don’t think Ai can replace that fully just yet! ;)
